Check out this brief introduction to our Adult Bible Discovery Time.

My name is Joyce Norfolk, holding a Master Degree from Denver Conservative Baptist Seminary. I am a leader of Adult Bible Discovery Time on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Men and women are welcomed to join from ages 16 and up.    The purpose of my class is to read one chapter from the Bible once a week. I figure within a year, we will have read 52 chapters of the Bible. My goal for the class is to develop men and women to delight in reading God’s Word. After reading, there will be Q and A (Questions and Answers). I encourage people to memorize God’s Word if they choose to. I would like Christians to grow in the knowledge of God so that they will be able to defend what they believe.

This week’s spotlight on Christian Education:

My name is Reverend Cedric L. Cooper, M.Div., Pastor

First Baptist Church of Hornell

I lead weekly small group Bible study series called Word on Wednesday (WOW). Our current series is entitled Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster. The purpose of this class is to take a spiritual journey into deeper spiritual insight into various Biblical disciplines and to experience liberation from the stifling slavery to self-interest and fear.

The goal of this class is to explores each discipline, then prayerfully discern ways in which each individual or we as a congregation can practice or implement these disciplines into our daily lives and or congregational life.

The Tuesday Women's Bible Study meets most Tuesday mornings, 10-11 a.m. throughout the school year as it has for more than 20 years. Currently, and for the last several years, it is led by Carol Dickey. Initially started as a group prayer and Bible study opportunity for women, the the women met at the homes of the various attendees. When the group grew too large to meet in homes, they began meeting at the church. Leadership was and is provided from within the group's membership. Over the years the group has investigated many books and topics in the Bible using companion study books by various authors. In addition to dedicated Bible studies, the group has also read and discussed books, such as the Christian classic IN HIS STEPS by Charles Sheldon and ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING (with accompanying video) by Max Lucado. All women are invited to participate in the Tuesday Women's Bible Study.
